ORLANDO (Junio 13, 2012) – Rosen Centre’s Everglades Restaurant is known for its upscale dining and wine pairing events, including its popular Vine & Dine series featuring renowned sommeliers and wine experts, but the International Drive hotel continues to raise the bar on local gourmet culinary events with the second of its three-part culinary series featuring its President & COO, Harris Rosen along with Orlando food critic, De Scott Joseph.
“Dinner with Harris Rosen hosted by Scott Joseph” takes place Thursday, Junio 28 desde 6:30 a 9 p.m. and features special guest, Bryan Del Bondio, president of Markham Vineyards in St. Helena, Calif., whose wines will be featured along with the five-course meal. Rosen, whom Joseph has called a “charming and gracious host as well as a great storyteller,” will visit with guests and share stories about Everglades Restaurant and its tie-in to Everglades National Park, among other engaging tales about his life and business. Seating is limited to ensure an intimate and enjoyable experience for each guest.
The five-course dinner follows suit with the Healthy Summer menu concept which Rosen spearheaded as a way to provide healthy menu options in a fine dining setting. The May Vine & Dine event was themed “Food for Thought” and featured foods that nourished mind, body and soul.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a welcome reception in the Everglades Bar, where guests can enjoy a glass of Markham Sauvignon Blanc, 2010 Napa Valley. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. and is soon followed by the first course: Whole Wheat Angel Hair, Morels, Asparagus in Saffron Tomato Broth and Markham Chardonnay, 2010 Napa Valley. The second course is comprised of Roasted Quail & Sweet Grape Jus paired with a Markham Merlot, 2009 Napa Valley, followed by a Pink Grapefruit Sorbet to cleanse the palate before moving on to the entrée.
For the main course, patrons will enjoy Filet of Buffalo Au Poivre with Blueberry Balsamic Sauce & Blueberry Onion Jam, served with a Baked Sweet Potato & Wilted Arugula and paired with a Markham’s “The Altruist” Cabernet Sauvignon, Calistoga Estate Vineyard, 2006 Napa Valley, which is made exclusively from estate-grown grapes. This particular wine is dedicated to Markham’s “Mark of Distinction” winners, a program in which the vineyard awards grants to passionate and inspiring individuals to complete projects that make a positive impact on their community. The wine was selected as a tie-in to Mr. Rosen’s extensive philanthropy work.
Guests will surely want to leave room for dessert: a trio of treats including a Pecan Tuile with Mascarpone Cream, Fresh Blueberries and Strawberries Peach Melba Cheesecake, and Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse, accompanied by Santa Marguerita Prosecco.
The cost of the event is $95 per person including tax and gratuity. Diners may make their evenings even more special by spending the night in a deluxe guest room for a special rate of only $69 más impuestos. As with all Everglades dining experiences, valet parking is complimentary. The third installment of “A Dinner with Harris Rosen hosted by Scott Joseph” is scheduled for the fall at Rosen Shingle Creek.

About Markham Vineyeards: Bordeaux immigrant Jean Laurent came to California in 1852 to seek gold, but instead founded one of the first wineries in Napa Valley. Bruce Markham arrived in Napa Valley almost 100 years later, also looking to start a winery. En 1978, he founded Markham Vineyards and the old Laurent winery was reborn. En 1988, the old Laurent Winery once again rose like a phoenix to take on another new life. The winery was sold to Mercian Corporation and began an ambitious four-year, multi-million dollar renovation, expansion and vineyard-replanting program. These efforts would more than double the capacity and make Markham one of the most advanced, winemaking facilities in the country. Even through the renovation, Markham was able to produce three of the number-one rated wines from California, as judged by Wine Spectator magazine.
About Bryan Del Bondio: Winemaking is a Del Bondio family tradition. Bryan’s grandparents settled in the Napa Valley over 100 years ago. His father, Al, worked at Inglenook for 45 years and taught his son about the unique and challenging art and science of winemaking. His mother, Marie, also spent 40 years at Inglenook. Del Bondio’s formal education was completed in 1977 when he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Viticulture from the University of California, Davis.
