A vacation to Orlando is always a good idea; however, it’s an extra good idea in February.
The weather is absolutely perfect, the crowds are below average, and there are so many fun festivals happening at the theme parks. You’re bound to fall in love with The City Beautiful during the month of love.
This sweet spot between the holidays and spring breaks is ideal for a variety of reasons that we’re happy to share as long term Orlando residents.
Here are some of the reasons we believe February is the best time to visit Orlando.
Key Takeaways
Perfect Weather
We’re going to start with the best reason first.
Florida is known for its year-round sunshine. In the summer months, this can mean close to 100° F in addition to high humidity levels.
In February, the sun mixed with the chilly wind makes for the dreamiest weather.
It’s not too hot and not too cold, it’s just right with highs in the mid 70°F’s.
Indulge in this goldilocks weather as much as you can when you visit, this means perfect park days, long walks, and poolside relaxing with your favorite book.
Once the sun sets, it does feel quite cool as the temperature drops into the high 50°F’s. We recommend bringing a light jacket to keep you comfortable throughout the evening.
2. Low Crowds
If you’re looking for a calmer side of The City Beautiful, you’ll love it here in February.
While it’s not a ghost town by any means, the crowds are significantly lower than a peak month like July.
This is especially true for our theme parks, such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando. Lower crowds mean you get to do more with your time.
Rather than wait in a long queue, you can ride more coasters, take on more attractions, or spend time savoring your favorite park food.
This also rings true for popular restaurants and bars, where it’s a bit easier to snag a table.
3. Unique Theme Park Festivals
If the perfect weather and low crowds isn’t enough to convince you why February reigns supreme as the best time to visit Orlando, maybe some of these exciting theme park festivals will help.
EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts
This festival runs just under 40 days. Typically held mid-January through mid-February, this festival is packed with arts and culture.
Catch a show-stopping DISNEY ON BROADWAY concert series, enjoy delicious dishes that define culinary artistry, marvel at performing art acts, and admire visual art pieces from talented artists..
It’s one of the most unique festivals at EPCOT and the perfect reason to visit this fabulous theme park.
Mardi Gras at Universal Orlando
Every spring, Universal Orlando throws a party fit for a king with their Mardi Gras celebration.
The nightly parade showcases full-sized floats with lively entertainment and colorful characters scattered throughout the park.
There’s also plenty of delicious Cajun-inspired treats and refreshing beverages to get you in the right mindset to party.
SeaWorld Orlando’s Seven Seas Food Festival
SeaWorld Orlando kicks off spring with the Seven Seas Food Festival for an epic foodie celebration.
Kiosks throughout the park offer exclusive tastes of global cuisine and specialty drinks available for purchase.
There is also a fabulous lineup of musicians performing electrifying concerts that will have you on your feet and dancing in no time.
