Harry’s Poolside Bar & Grill – Now Open!

At Rosen Hotels & Resorts, we are very proud of our family heritage. Harry’s Poolside Bar & Grill pays tribute to the entrepreneurial spirit and the courage of Harry Rosenofsky, paternal grandfather of our founder Harris Rosen. Indeed, Harris is named after his granddad Harry.

The Rosen family story begins in the early 1900’s when Harry left his family in the Ukraine to create a better life for them in America. Soon after his arrival, Harry took a job in a Jewish restaurant on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Several years later he leased a tiny storefront and created his own little gathering place, serving fresh meats, vegetables, soups and appetizers to the bustling Jewish and Italian immigrant communities. Soon after, Harry sent for his wife, Cecelia, and their four children. Soon after, Harry and Cecelia welcomed a fifth child, Jack Rosen, Harris’s Dad. The entire family eventually worked in the restaurant, which grew to attract some celebrity patrons, including Meyer Lansky and Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel. According to urban legend, the two held regular “meetings” at the restaurant. At one such meeting, Lansky is alleged to have used his talent as an automotive engineer to sketch out a drawing for a new Model T engine that he claimed could outrun anything else on the road (like the cops).

Harry would probably marvel at the size and scope of Harry’s Poolside Bar & Grill. We hope you will enjoy its casual ambience and its tropical flavors. Relax and enjoy. By the way, feel free to hold all of your “meetings” right here.
